Westcode Semiconductors make high power GTO's (Gate Turn-On thryistors) that are used to control the speed of electric motors as used in tube trains and electric cranes. GTO's operate at high voltages (~6kV) and are also clamped at a high pressure (~10kN) so safety is paramount.

The problem that Westcode Semiconductors had was their "off the shelf" software did not do the job they needed. Measurement accuracy had to be improved and so did data reporting. The Atlantis solution was to develop a simulator to use in-house against which our application software could be tested and benchmarked. Only when the software passed our internal tests was it taken for testing on the customers equipment. The test and development methods employed ensured that the software was of high quality whilst minimising production downtime.
