After GEC Alstom have installed a new turbine it has to be performance tested to ensure that it meets the specifications as agreed with their customer. Atlantis Solutions have developed a flexible data monitoring system called PowerLog that communicates with a data logger (eg HP34970A) and stores typically upto 200 readings every 30 seconds. The logger measures temperatures, pressures and voltages from various sensors around the plant and then uses entropy and isothermal calculations to determine the peformance of the turbine.

Results are stored in a database and output to an Excel spreadsheet in real time. Alarm conditions can be setup to alert the operator of adverse conditions.
